On Peter’s Mind: Working Through the Holidays

As we move into the final stretch of the year, most of us feel that familiar push: finish strong, finish hard, race through the finish line. We want to hit our goals, exceed expectations, and set ourselves up for an incredible next year. And yet—here come the holidays.

This season brings a beautiful swirl of family gatherings, gift shopping, parties, lunches, and all the joyful obligations that make this time of year special. We want to be fully present for these moments. We don’t want family to feel like a burden, and we don’t want work to feel like one either. The challenge is finding that balance.

In real estate, momentum is everything. Slow down too much in December, and January, February, and even March can feel the drag. Our business runs on a 90-day cycle—from the day you meet a prospect to the day the property lists, sells, and closes. That means the seeds we plant now determine our success well into the new year. We don’t have the luxury of completely shutting down. We’re not 8-to-5 employees—we’re entrepreneurs. Business owners. We signed up for a 24/7 profession that requires us to keep our eyes on the ball.

But here’s the other truth: the holidays matter. This season is an essential time to recharge, connect, and enjoy the people who support us all year long. Joy fuels energy. Rest fuels focus. Presence fuels purpose.

So as we step into the holidays, let’s aim for a balance that honors both sides of our lives. Celebrate fully. Show up for family and friends. Enjoy the parties, the meals, the laughter. And at the same time, keep your momentum alive—nurture relationships, stay visible, and continue the small daily actions that move your business forward.

It’s not always easy—but it is what we signed up for.

Happy Holidays, everyone.
